      As one of the first books written in Turkic, this work is a start-up. It does contain a lot of wisdom and advice, which can get boring to a modern reader because of its repetitive and didactic nature. Nevertheless, repetitiveness shows that the points made are really important and thus are heavily stressed upon. It would be interesting to read this work in the original, but the translator does a very good job of bringing many of the word plays and puns employed by Yusuf Khass Hajib. It is nice t [...]
